Annual Initiatives
Key initiatives within the Center include:
- IL-SAELP Initiative: The Illinois State Action for Education Leadership (SAELP) Project focuses on strategies to address both the conditions that enable effective leadership and leadership development in Illinois schools. Aligned with the goals of the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) legislation, these strategies center on strengthening leaders' decision-making authority and ability to address issues of student achievement and stimulating administrator preparation and professional development programs that focus on improving student achievement. For more information, contact Erika Hunt
- Leadership to Integrate the Learning Continuum (LINC): The LINC initiative, funded by the McCormick Foundation, is focused on supporting leaders in early childhood and K-12 to develop and nurture a seamless learning continuum centered on children's learning and development. The intended outcome of this initiative is to develop and implement policies and practices that address the missing links in creating a learning continuum to support the whole child from birth to beyond and the role that early childhood and K-12 school leaders play in their efforts to collaborate with families, support agencies, and community and state stakeholders to provide high quality learning and developmental opportunities for all children. A LINC web site includes information on the work of the advisory committee, related articles and studies, state, national and international policy information, and research collected specific for the LINC initiative.
